Falcons Struggle Against Gettysburg

GRANTHAM, Pa - The Messiah men's tennis team hosted Gettysburg College for their final fall match of the season. The Bullets dominated from doubles to singles sweeping the Falcons 9-0 on the day.

The Falcons will not be back in action until 2024. Messiah will begin the spring season away for their spring trip, from Mar, 9 through Mar, 16.

Doubles

The Falcons day got off to a slow start dropping all three doubles courts. Entering singles play Messiah would have to pull themselves out of an 0-3 deficit. On court one, Mikey Fellman / Adam Contract took down Chase Wilson / Timothy Sheaffer 8-4. On court two, Michael Zayneh / Matt Porreca defeated Michael Niemi / Carl Anderson 8-1. Lastly on court three, JP Damare / Connor McPartland narrowly defeated Luke Risser / Ben Anspach 8-6.

Singles
With the Falcons down 0-3, needing to take four courts to win the day, Messiah knew had to start early. Unfortunately for the Falcons that was not the case, as Gettysburg never slowed down and won all six singles courts completing the 9-0 sweep.

On court one, Mikey Felmon defeated Chase Wilson 6-4, and 6-2. On court two, Michael Niemi was able to force a third set. However, Gettysburg's Ben O'Conner-Skloot took the third set, winning the match 6-1, 0-6, and 10-3. In what would be the dagger on court three, Owen Kutlu defeated Messiah's Tim Sheaffer 6-1, and 6-3.

Courts four, five, and six had similar results to the first three courts, with Gettysburg winning on all of them. Conor McPartland and Matt Porreca both won their courts by scores of 8-2. While JP Damare defeated Luke Risser 8-3 on the last court.

What's Up Next
Messiah falls to 0-4 on the young season. The Falcons will not be in action until 2024, where their first match is set for Mar 9.
