CARLISLE, Pa. – The Messiah University women's basketball team fell at Dickinson, 61-45 on Wednesday night. After a tight battle in the first quarter, the Falcons never bounced back after an 14-2 run in the second quarter by the Red Devils.
Morgan Adams and
Reese Harden each finished with 17 points for the Falcons.
Up next, the Falcons return home on Tuesday, Nov. 21 against Penn St. Altoona at 6:00 p.m.
First Quarter
The first quarter was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams.
Morgan Adams and
Reese Harden started the game on fire with Adams having seven points and Harden having six points at the end of the first. Dickinson made a jumper with eight seconds left in the quarter to give Dickinson a 16-13 lead at the end of quarter.
Second Quarter
The back-and-forth battle between the two teams continued to open the scored quarter as the teams continued to trade baskets. Though midway through the second quarter the Red Devils started to pull away. The Red Devils went on 14-2 run that went on for five minutes in the second quarter to push their lead to 13.
Reese Harden ended the run with a layup for the final basket of the first to put the score at 34-23 at the break.
Third Quarter
The Falcons opened the second half looking for a comeback with a 7-2 run that was capped off by a
Charlotte Milanesi free throw to reduce the Red Devils lead to six midway through the third quarter. Dickinson responded to the run by the Falcons with an 11-1 run to end the third quarter with a 47-31 lead.
Fourth Quarter
The two teams traded baskets to open the fourth quarter, with
Morgan Adams and
Chloe Milanesi scoring for the Falcons. With the Falcons looking for a comeback, Dickinson continued to answer every basket for the Falcons with one of their own. Dickinson made a big three pointer with three minutes to go to push their lead up to 18, virtually ending any hope of a Messiah comeback.
Kiara Bomboy made two free throws at the end of the game to put the final score at 61-45.

Reese Harden and
Morgan Adams led the Falcons with 17 points each. Harden added three rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Adams added in three rebounds and two steals. The Falcons shot 38.8% from the field and went 0-6 from behind the arc. Dickinson shot 45.8% from the field and went 7-12 from behind the arc. The Red Devils out rebounded the Falcons 38-19.
