Adams, Harden helps Women’s Basketball tames Cougars

Dallas, Pa. – The Messiah University women's basketball team used two 20-point performances from Morgan Adams and Reese Harden to lead the Falcons to a 57-42 win over Misericordia on Thursday night. The Falcons also impressed on the defensive end, forcing 19 Cougar turnovers, and only having five turnovers themselves.
 
Up next, the Falcons play a neutral site game at Misericordia University against the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University on Friday, Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m.

First Quarter
The Falcons jumped to an early 6-2 lead midway through the first quarter with two baskets from Chloe Milanesi and a basket from Liv Monturo. Morgan Adams added two layups just a minute later to push the Falcons lead back to four. Reese Harden made a three pointer with two minutes remaining in the quarter before Misericordia made a three to put the score at 13-9 at the end of the first quarter.
 
Second Quarter
The Falcons opened the second quarter with a 7-2 run that started with a three-point play from Charlotte Milanesi and ended with two buckets from Morgan Adams. The Cougars responded to the run with a bucket and free throw to reduce the Falcons lead to 20-14 midway through the second. The Falcons then answered with a 7-0 run that featured four points from Morgan Adams and a three from Reese Harden. The Cougars ended the quarter with a 5-2 run in the final minute to push the score to 29-19 at halftime.
 
Third Quarter
The Falcons continued to start quarters strong with a 11-2 run that ran to midway through the third quarter. The run started with a free throw from Chloe Milanesi and ended with a jumper from Reese Harden to push the Falcons lead to 40-21. The next four minutes of the quarter featured some good defense with only three points from the Cougars. The final minute the Falcons scored four points on a Reese Harden layup and two free throws from Morgan Adams to end the quarter up 44-26.
 
Fourth Quarter
The Falcons opened the final quarter with a 5-2 run that started with a Reese Harden layup and ended with a Morgan Adams to push the Falcons lead to 49-28 with six minutes remaining in the fourth. The Cougars then went on a 13-4 run that went on for five minutes. The Falcons then cut into the run with a jumper from Charlotte Milanesi and a layup from Morgan Adams. The Cougars made a free throw in the final 15 seconds to put the final score at 57-42.
 
Stats
Morgan Adams and Reese Harden each finished with 20 points. Adams added a team-high nine rebounds and Harden also added seven rebounds. Charlotte Milanesi totaled eight points, five assists, and three rebounds. The Falcons shot 37.7 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from three. The Cougars shot 34.7 percent from the field and 26.7 percent from three. The Falcons only had five turnovers and forced 19 Cougar turnovers.
