Women’s Basketball Flies Past Sea Gulls

Dallas, Pa. – The Messiah University women's basketball team cruised to a 65-46 win over Salisbury University at Misericordia University on Friday night. The Falcons trailed after the first quarter, but two big runs in the second quarter and a 13-2 run to start the third quarter led the Falcons to the win. Morgan Adams tallied her third straight 20-performance to lead the Falcons. Chloe Milanesi did a little of everything totaling 15 points, five rebounds, four steals, and four assists.
 
Up next, The Falcons return home to take on No. 21 DeSales University on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
 
First Quarter
The Sea Gulls opened the game with the first four points, but the Falcons responded with 6-0 run that started with a Morgan Adams layup and ended with a Sydney Hoffman layup midway through the first. The Sea Gulls bounced back in the next three minutes with a 7-0 run to push their lead to 11-6. The Falcons responded with a 6-2 run in the final two minutes that was highlighted by two Reese Harden buckets to reduce the Sea Gulls lead to 13-12 at the end of the first quarter.
 
Second Quarter
The Falcons opened the second quarter with a 10-2 run that ran the first four minutes of the quarter. The run started with a Chloe Milanesi layup and ended with a Liv Monturo layup to give the Falcons a 22-15 lead. After the Sea Gulls broke the run with free throws, the Falcons then went on to score six straight points all from Morgan Adams to push their lead to 11 with three minutes remaining. The Sea Gulls cut into the deficit with a 8-2 run that ended with a Chloe Milanesi layup to give the Falcons a 32-25 lead at the half.
 
Third Quarter
The third quarter opened with the two teams trading baskets, but then the Falcons offense exploded for a 13-2 run that lasted until four minutes remaining in the quarter to give the Falcons a 45-29 lead. The run started with a three from Chloe Milanesi and ended with a Morgan Adams layup. The two teams traded three pointers, but then the Falcons capped off the third quarter with a 8-0 run that ended with a Liv Monturo layup with seven seconds remaining to give the Falcons a 56-32 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter
The two teams started the fourth slow with only two free throws for Salisbury and a Morgan Adams layup for the first three minutes. The Falcons then went on a 7-2 run that featured buckets from Reese Harden and Liv Monturo and a three from Chloe Milanesi to push the Falcons lead to 65-36 midway through the fourth. The Sea Gulls responded with a 10-0 run that ran the rest of the fourth quarter to put the final score at 65-46.
 
Stats
Morgan Adams led the Falcons with 20 points and six rebounds. It is the third straight game that Adams has totaled 20 or more points and her fourth time scoring 20 points or more this season. Chloe Milanesi did a little of everything totaling 15 points, five rebounds, four steals, and four assists. Reese Harden added in 12 points and three steals. Sydney Hoffman also totaled six points, four assists, and four steals. The Falcons shot 48.4 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from three. Salisbury shot 34.9% from the field and 41.7 percent from three.
