Barrage of Falcon Goals Push Messiah to Season Opening Win

GRANTHAM, PA. – After falling behind early, a barrage of Messiah goals as well as stifling defense helped flip the script as the Falcons commanded McDaniel in earning a win in their season opener 14-9 over the visiting Green Terror.

Bobby Berg led the Falcons with four goals and five points, as he added an assists on the afternoon. Seth Libby, Corum McCuller and Ben Ferrell all added two goals on the afternoon.

The Falcons will host Franklin and Marshall on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:00 PM at the Lacrosse Turf in Grantham, Pa.

Action
McDaniel jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period before the Falcons got on the board with a Bobby Berg goal. Each team tacked on another goal as the first period came to an end with the Green Terror ahead 4-2.

The second quarter saw ten goals scored in its entirety. Messiah was able to tie the game at 4-4 before McDaniel scored twice to take the lead back at 6-4. While the teams traded goals the rest of the period, Messiah had a short 8-7 lead before McDaniel tied the game to go into the half at 8-8.

The Falcons took that momentum into the third, taking a 10-8 lead thanks to goals from Jesse Lynch and Chad Teresky. One more goal from Berg made it an 11-9 game heading into the final period.

Continuing to attack, the Falcons pulled away from the Green Terror with three more goals and held a lead of 14-9 with just over six minutes to go and that score held until the final buzzer. This was also a testament to the Falcons defense as they allowed one second half goal to McDaniel.

Bobby Berg made an immediate impact in his debut, tallying four goals and an assist in the win. Eight different Falcons scored on the day to cement the win for Messiah.
