Action from Criste Courts
Penn State Harrisburg answered first with a convincing 8-2 win on court one that was too much for the duo of Conjack/Heckman. The opposite can be said for court three as the Messiah team of Tozzi/Lee cruised through their opponents 8-1 on court three to even the score at 1-1 with court two still in play.
The team of Sheaffer/Walker clashed with PSU until a tiebreaker was held at 7-all. Messiah prevailed in the tiebreak working the points earning the 7-3 tiebreak win and the 8-7(3) win. The Falcons took that 2-1 advantage into singles play.
Singles
The Nittany Lions struck early with wins on courts one and two to take a 3-2 lead midway through. Conjack fell 4-6, 3-6 while Heckman lost 0-6, 0-6 on court two. Those would be the final wins from PSU Harrisburg on the afternoon, as the Falcons would overpower the Nittany Lions on courts three, four, five and six.
First,
Kylie Walker continued her torrid pace this spring, winning 7-5, 6-4 on court three before
Nicole Lee won 6-2, 6-2 on court five.
Angela Tozzi dropped only a single game in her dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
The final match of the day to finish was
Rebekah Sheaffer on court four. Sheaffer found herself in an early 1-4 deficit in the first set but her comeback bid fell short in the first set 4-6. The second set was equally contested but it was Sheaffer who won 7-5 to set up a super tiebreak in lieu of the third set. After falling behind 3-1, Sheaffer went on a 9-3 run to take the tiebreak and the match 4-6, 7-5, 10-6.
