Ferrell Scores Seven as Falcons Win Conference Opener

READING, Pa. – The Messiah men's lacrosse team earned a 16-4 victory over the Alvernia Golden Wolves to begin the MAC Commonwealth season in the win column. Ben Ferrell led the Falcons offense with seven goals on the afternoon as the Falcons outshot Alvernia 51-17 in a dominating effort. The victory improves the Falcons to 8-2 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.
 
In addition to Ferrell's seven goals, the Falcons had five-point performances from Chad Teresky and Bobby Berg. Both Teresky and Berg finished the game with three goals and two assists.
 
The Falcons will face a little stiffer test on Saturday when they host the York Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on the Lacrosse Turf. The Spartans are 4-4 on the season, but have played five matches against nationally ranked teams.

Action
The Falcons jumped all over the Golden Wolves in the first scoring four straight goals to take a 4-0 lead. After a score from Alvernia, the Falcons rattled off five additional goals to take a 9-1 lead at the break.

It would only get better for Messiah in the second half, opening up a 14-1 lead before Alvernia would answer again late in the third. After a couple more Falcon goals in the fourth, Messiah claimed their first conference win 16-4.

In the Box
Six different Falcons found the back of the cage including Ben Ferrell (7), Chad Teresky (3), Bobby Berg (3), Josh McFadden (1), Jesse Lynch (1) and Will Ehrhart (1). Three of Ferrell's goals came in the first half while he added four in the second half for his seven goals.

As a team, the Falcons outshot the Golden Wolves 51-17 in a strong effort. The Falcons also caused 26 Golden Wolves turnovers in the game.

The Falcons will host York College on Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 PM to take on the Spartans in Grantham, Pa. That game will take place at the Lacrosse Turf as well.
