GRANTHAM, Pa. - The No. 13 York Spartans defeated the Messiah men's lacrosse team by a 19-6 final score on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Grantham. The Spartans scored the first six goals of the contest and while Messiah found the twine with tallies from
Brock Roe and
Jesse Lynch to cut the deficit to 6-2, the Spartans just had too much offense on the day. York responded by scoring eight of the next nine goals en route to the 19-6 victory.
Chad Teresky was the lone Falcon to score multiple goals on the day, netting a pair of scores and adding an assist in the setback. The loss moves the Falcons to 1-1 in the conference slate and drops their overall record to 8-3 on the season. Messiah will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Eastern Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on the Lacrosse Turf.
Action
The Spartans jumped all over the Falcons in the early going, opening up a 6-0 lead in the first before Messiah answered with a
Brock Roe goal with 50 seconds to go in the first period. Jess Lynch added the Falcons second goal of the game in the second period before York scored four additional times to take a 10-2 lead into the break.
That lead increased to 12-2 and then 14-3 toward the end of the third quarter. The No. 13 nationally ranked Spartans kept pouring it on the Falcons and ended with the commanding 19-6 victory.
Five Falcons scored on the afternoon including twice from the stick of
Chad Teresky in addition to singular goals from
Jesse Lynch,
Bobby Berg,
Brock Roe and
Zach Drake.

The loss takes the Falcons record to 8-3 overall and evens their conference mark at 1-1. Messiah will host Eastern on April 5, for their next conference matchup. That matchup will begin at 7:00 PM in Grantham on the Lacrosse Turf and also of note, it is Educator Appreciation Day!
