HILTON HEAD, SC. - The Messiah women's tennis team was edged out by Roanoke this afternoon 4-5 in an evenly contested match. Messiah got wins courtesy of Nicole Lee and Anna Lentz in doubles, in addition to singles wins from Kylie Walker, Nicole Lee and Anna Lentz for the four points.

The Falcons will play Gordon College on Friday, March 10, at 9:00 AM.

On the Courts
The Falcons dropped courts one and two doubles by scores of 2-8 and 1-8 and the teams of Kasi Conjack/Isabella Heckman and Rebekah Sheaffer/Kylie Walker could not get into rhythm early. The third doubles duo of Nicole Lee and Anna Lentz found success for the second day in a row, winning convincingly 8-1 to give the Falcons a point heading into singles play.

Messiah would drop courts one and two singles with Conjack falling 1-6, 2-6 and Heckman falling 0-6, 2-6. Kylie Walker at No. 3 won for the third time in as many matches taking command and winning 6-3, 6-2. Nicole Lee (6-4, 6-0) and Anna Lentz (6-1, 6-0) cleaned up on courts five and six to send the overall match score to 4-4 with one match remaining.

The last court to finish was Rebekah Sheaffer on court four whose match started in the daylight but ended under the lights of the Hilton Head High School. Sheaffer breezed through the first set 6-1 and fought from behind in the second set but would fall 4-6 to set up a third set super tiebreak. Sheaffer fell in the tiebreak 1-10 as Roanoke clinched the match.

The Falcons are back on the courts for one final ride on this Spring Break trip and will face Gordon College at 9:00 AM on Friday, March 10, at the Hilton Head Resort.
