OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The No. 11 Messiah women's lacrosse team earned a convincing 12-2 victory over the Stevenson Mustangs on Wednesday night. The Falcons outshot the Mustangs 33-11 in the contest and led 6-1 after the first 15 minutes of play en route to the convincing victory. Messiah had six different players collect points on the evening with
Rachel Delate leading the way with five off of four goals and an assist.
After their six-goal first quarter, Messiah coasted home with two goals in each of the next three period for their dozen total scores. The Mustangs were actually first on the board with a score just 12 seconds into the contest, but Messiah responded with nine-straight goals. The Falcons' scoring streak was stopped in the middle of the third quarter when Stevenson's Kara Yarusso scored the lone second-half goal for the Mustangs.

Hope Flack, and
Rachel Delate tallied the final three goals as the Falcons earned the 12-2 victory.
After the early score from Stevenson,
Jordan Lewicki connected on back-to-back tallies in the next two minutes to give Messiah the lead at 2-1 with 12:50 remaining in the first quarter. Those two goals opened the floodgates in the first quarter as four more goals followed.
Hope Flack scored off a feed from
Annalise Keitel to make it 3-1 before
Rachel Delate scored twice and Lewicki connected for a third goal to give Messiah a 6-1 lead after one.
In the second quarter,
Emma Lytle and
Hannah Gawne each scored unassisted goals to put Messiah up 8-1 at the break.
Rachel Delate scored her third of the game to open the second-half scoring before the Mustangs put their second, and final, goal of the night in the cage to make it a 9-2 game.
As mentioned, Gawne, Delate, and Flack capped off the scoring down the stretch as Messiah earns the 12-2 victory. The win improves the Falcons to 11-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Messiah will back in action on Saturday when they host the Widener Pride at 1:00 p.m. on the Lacrosse Turf.
