After Shaky First Quarter, Falcons Respond with a Vengeance over Hood

FREDERICK, MD. – The Messiah men's lacrosse team overcame a slow first quarter to take down the Hood College Blazers 14-10 this evening. The Falcons outscored the Blazers 12-4 over the second, third and fourth periods.
 
Chad Teresky led the Falcons in goals with four while Aaron Shaw, Seth Libby and Ben Ferrell each added two.
 
With a win against Albright on Saturday, April 29, the Falcons can clinch a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Playoffs early next week. Messiah hosts Albright for an opening face-off set for 1:00 PM at the Lacrosse Turf.
 
From the Field
It was all Hood in the first quarter, opening up a 6-2 lead after one period of action. From then on it was all Messiah as they scored the next seven goals throughout the second and third quarters to generate a 9-6 lead. With a Hood goal tacked on in the third, Messiah took a 9-7 lead into the final frame.
 
Three quick Falcon goals from Ben Antel, Chad Teresky and Nathan Branson made it a five goal game with just over 11 minutes remaining. The Blazers would cut the deficit to two with seven and a half minutes to go but Teresky and Seth Libby tacked on two more goals to put the game out of reach.
 
The Falcons would win 14-10 to take out conference opponent Hood.

Chad Teresky led the Falcons in goals with four. Aaron Shaw, Ben Ferrell and Seth Libby each added two goals on the night while Jesse Lynch, Nathan Branson, Ben Antel and Zach Drake all converted one goal in the game.
 
Branson had a team high six ground balls while David Gross, Jesse Lynch and Ben Antel all had five ground balls.
 
Team wise, Messiah outshot Hood 50-34 and led the ground ball battle 42-31. Messiah also won 14 faceoffs to Hood's 13.

The win takes the Falcons record to 10-6 and 3-4 in the conference. Messiah will host Albright on Saturday, April 29 for a game starting at 1:00 PM in Grantham, Pa. With a win, Messiah would clinch the fifth and final spot in the postseason starting early next week.
