GRANTHAM, PA. - The Messiah women's tennis team dropped their non conference match against Randolph Macon this afternoon 0-9. Despite the 0-9 scoreline, the Falcons found themselves in three third set tiebreaks that the Yellow Jackets would capitalize on and prevail in all of them.
Messiah is back on the courts in two days on Wednesday, April 5, for a critical matchup against conference opponent York College.
Action from Criste Courts
The team of Conjack/Heckman fell at court one 4-8 in their proset while the team of Sheaffer/Walker battled through in a close proset on court two. After trading games back and forth, the Yellow Jackets pulled ahead and ultimately won 8-6.
On court three doubles,
Kayla Greiner made her Falcon debut in her first collegiate action of her young career, teaming up with
Angela Tozzi to round out the Falcon lineup. Tozzi/Greiner fell 3-8.
On to Singles
Kasi Conjack dropped her match at No. 1, 2-6, 2-6 while
Isabella Heckman also lost 1-6, 0-6 on court three. At No. 5,
Nicole Lee fell in straight sets 0-6, 2-6 as the Yellow Jackets took a commanding 6-0 lead with three matches to finish.
The last three matches would all be decided in decisive third set super tiebreaks. First it was
Angela Tozzi who fell on court six losing 4-6, 0-6, (0-10). Then it was
Kylie Walker fighting off multiple points on court two in a back and forth affair in the tiebreak. Walker would ultimately fall 6-1, 4-6, (8-10).
The final match to end was
Rebekah Sheaffer on court four who found herself in a similar back and forth tiebreak. Randolph Macon would pull that one out as well 7-6(5), 2-6, (8-10) to give the Yellow Jackets the 9-0 sweep.
