Women's Lacrosse Dominates At Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The No. 11 Messiah women's lacrosse team had a dominant performance on the road at Eastern University, crushing the Eagles 22-1 on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons had a fast start, scoring 10 goals in the opening quarter, and did not allow a goal in the final three quarters of play. Rachel Delate led the Falcons with 10 points (four goals, six assists), as Natalie Macri and Annalise Keitel each contributed a career-high four goals.
 
Messiah scored four goals in the opening four minutes of play as Delate tallied three goals and Emma Lytle recorded her 18th score of the season. The Falcons kept pouring it on, opening up a commanding 10-0 lead with 2:51 remaining in the first period after Macri recorded her first goal of the contest. Eastern would get on the board in the final minute of the first quarter, accounting for their lone goal of the contest.
 
The Falcons proceeded to score four goals in the second quarter to take a 14-1 lead at the half. Four different Falcons scored in the second quarter.
 
After the breather, Messiah rolled to the 22-1 victory with eight second-half goals. Natalie Macri was the lone Falcons to score multiple goals in the second half, scoring the final goal of the third quarter and the first goal of the fourth.
 
In total, eight different Falcons recorded goals in the victory. As mentioned, Rachel Delate led the Falcons with 10 points in the game. Mackenzie Schnur (3g, 5a) and Annalise Keitel (4g, 3a) also had big games with eight and seven points, respectively. Mackenzie O'Haver played the first half in the cage, earning the win, as Grace Hejeebu played the second half. Each goalie recorded one save.
 
The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday, Apr. 15 when they host the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen at 1:00 p.m. on the Lacrosse Turf.
