SHIPPENSBURG, Pa, - The Messiah women's tennis team traveled to Shippensburg, Pa to take on the Raiders of Shippensburg Wednesday evening. In this matchup, it would be the Raiders who got the better of the Falcons, winning the day overall 4-3. 
 
The Falcons will be back in action Friday, Oct 6 at home against Gettysburg College.
 
How It Happened
The Falcons took an early 1-0 match lead in doubles with Kylie Walker and Rebekah Sheaffer defeating Raiders Brooklyn Rupert and Ali Zapach 6-1. However, the Raiders would respond by winning courts one and three to take a 2-1 match lead heading into singles play. 
 
Heading into singles play with a 2-1 match lead the Raiders would extend their lead to 3-1, by taking court six. Rachel Gallagher defeated Naomi Parson in two sets 6-3, and 6-2. The Falcons would answer with a win of their own, Kylie Walker picked up a win for the Falcons on court two. Walker defeated Ali Zapach in dominant fashion by scores of 6-3, and 6-0. 
 
Following that win by Kylie Walker on court two, the Raiders would pick up the match victory with back-to-back wins on courts one and four. Corrine Markovich knocked off Falcons Kasi Conjack in two sets, 6-4, and 6-1 on court one. While her teammate Kendall Winters defeated Jocelyn Valdez 6-1, and 6-4. 
 
Messiah would eventually pick up wins on courts four and three, but it would not be enough. Rebekah Sheaffer defeated Brinley Orris in a tie breaker (6-2, 5-7, 6-3) while in the last match of the day, Bella Heckman defeated Brooklyn Rupert on court three in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) as well.
