Women's Tennis Comes up Short In All Four Matches on Spring Break

HILTON HEAD, SC. - The Messiah womens tennis team begins their spring break road trip Monday morning against Saint Mary's College of (IN). The Falcons will be on the road for four matches throughout the week. Following Mondays match against Saint Mary's College (IN), the team will take on Greenville University, Tuesday at 3:00p.m. The team will then turn around Wednesday at 6:00p.m against Asbury University. Messiah will wrap up their spring break against Rhodes College Friday March 15th. That time is still to be determined, all matches will take place in South Carolina.

Friday – Rhodes College defeats Messiah – 8-1

Doubles:
The Lynx would begin the day taking all three points in doubles play. Angela Tozzi / Naomi Parson would be the first court to finish after losing 8-0. Kasi Conjack / Kiara Bomboy would lose on court one 8-2. Lastly Kylie Walker / Rebekah Sheaffer fell on court two by a score 8-3.
 
Singles:
Kasi Conjack opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 loss on court one. Naomo Parsons court would finish next after falling 6-1, 6-2 to her opponent. Rebekah Sheaffer suffered a 6-2, 6-1 loss on court three. Following that third court finish the Linx secured the overall match win. Kylie Walker would finish her match with a 6-2, 6-1 loss on court two. Lastly Kiara Bomboy finished the day giving the Falcons the lone court victory after beating her opponent 1-6, 6-4, 10-8.
 

Wednesday – Asbury University defeats Messiah – 7-0

Doubles:
The Falcons played some close contested matches on all three courts of doubles. However, the Eagles would take down the Falcons on each court to take the 3-0 advantage heading into singles action.
 
Kasi Conjack / Kiara Bomboy would lose on court one by a score of 8-3. On court two Kylie Walker / Rebekah Sheaffer suffered an 8-3 loss. Lastly on court three Angela Tozzi / Naomi Parson would fall 8-1 in the match.
 
Singles:
Singles play saw two matches unable to finish due to lighting. Kiara Bomboy was unable to finish her match on court four. While Noami Parson also was unable to complete her match on court six.
 
Kasi Conjack would fight hard on court one but came up short by scores of 6-3, 6-2. Kylie Walker would also take a loss on court two 6-1, 6-2. Rebekah Sheaffer could not get the Falcons in the win column as well, losing her sets 6-1, 6-0. The final match to finish was Izzy Ipri who would come up short losing to her opponent 6-0, 6-1.
 

Tuesday – Greenville University Defeats Messiah - 7-2

Doubles:
The womens team started off doubles action with a 8-2 loss on court one, as Kasi Conjack fell to her opponent to begin the day. Kylie Walker / Rebekah Sheaffer would pick up a win for the Falcons on court two by a score of 8-4. In a hard-fought court three, Angela Tozzi / Naomi Parson would fall to their opponents 8-6. Messiah would head into singles action down 2-1 on the day.
 
Singles:
Kasi Conjack would once again kick things off for the Falcons on court one. However, her opponent would escape past Conjack with 6-4, 6-3 wins. Kylie Walker looked to help the Falcons turn it around, trailing 3-1 in the overall matches. Unfortunately, Walker would get bested in close sets losing by scores of 6-2 in set one and 7-6 (7) losing in the tiebreaker in set two.
 
Rebekah Sheaffer suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss on court three, extending the Panthers match lead too 5-1.
Kiara Bomboy did pick up a win for the Falcons on court four. Bomboy would sweep her opponent by scores of 6-0, 6-0. However, Angela Tozzi would suffer 6-3, 6-3 set losses on court five. As well as Naomi Parson dropping court six by scores of 6-0, 6-4 giving the Panthers the 7-2 overall match victory.
 

Monday - Saint Mary's College of (IN) defeats Messiah University - 8-1

Doubles:
The Falcons began the day suffering a doubles loss on court two. Falcons Kylie Walker / Rebekah Sheaffer lost to their opponents 8-1. Court one saw Kasi Conjack / Isabella Heckman lose their court 8-2. Lastly on court three, Messiah would finally get in the win column in the final doubles court. Angela Tozzi / Naomi Parson picked up a big win on court three when they escaped a 7-7 tie breaker but prevailed with an 7-3 point victory winning the match 8-7. 

Singles:
The team unfortunately could not pick up a win in singles action. The Belles picked up wins on all six courts to take the 8-1 victory over the Falcons. Kasi Conjack would fall by scores of 6-0 in both sets to drop court one. Kylie Walker would battle hard in set one losing 6-3 but ultimately fell in set two 6-1 to lose court two for the Falcons. The Belles would round out the courts with clean set victories over Rebekah Sheaffer, Kiara Bomboy, Angela Tozzi, and Naomi Parson.
