GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday evening, the top-ranked Messiah University women's soccer team defeated the Pride of Widener University, 3-0. The Falcons got off to a quick start with a goal from
Hannah Adair by
Mia Libby in the second minute to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons extended their lead in the 13th minute on a
Lydia Ring goal from
Hannah Adair and
Bailie Dull to give the Falcons a 2-0 advantage going into the break. The Falcons added their final tally in the 63rd on a goal from
Brittany Laird by Libby and Dull to give the Falcons the 3-0 win.

First Half
The Falcons looked to get on the board to open the game. After the Falcons pushed into the attacking third,
Tahlia Lloyd got the ball and quickly passed to
Bailie Dull. Dull passed the ball towards the near corner to
Mia Libby. Libby took a couple of dribbles and slotted a low cross into the box.
Hannah Adair then tapped the ball into the left corner of the goal to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead just one minute and 26 seconds into the game. The Falcons got another scoring chance in the eighth minute on a
Brittany Laird shot on goal, but the Pride's goalkeeper made the save and kept the Falcons lead at one. The Falcons continued to put the pressure on the Pride's defense and looked to add to their lead in the 13th minute. The play started again with Lloyd passing the ball to Dull on the near side. Dull this time, sent a cross to the far post and
Hannah Adair volleyed the ball right in front of the goal.
Lydia Ring then sent the ball into the open goal to push the Falcons lead to 2-0. The Falcons got off two shots on goal from Dull and
Alayna Williams, but each shot was saved, and the Falcons took a 2-0 lead into the half.
Second Half
The Falcons looked to open the second half with a goal to put the game away. In the 62nd minute, the Falcons earned a corner kick. After the ball was played in short,
Bailie Dull got the ball outside of the box on the far side. Dull sent a cross to the near post to
Mia Libby. Libby volleyed the ball to the far post and
Brittany Laird kicked the ball into the bottom-right corner to give the Falcons the 3-0 lead. The Falcons got one shot on goal the rest of the way from
Kenzie Derstine, but the shot was saved, and the Falcons earned the 3-0 win.

Mia Libby each tallied two assists. The Falcons totaled 16 shots with seven shots on goal. The Falcons defense shut down the Pride's attack, allowing only one shot the entire 90 minutes. The Falcons earned all six corner kicks in the game.
Ava Wert earned the win in goal for the Falcons.
Ellie Ockrin also earned time in goal for Messiah.
