No. 4 Women’s Soccer Rolls in Win Against Eastern, Advance to MAC Commonwealth Championship

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Falcons opened the game strong with a goal from Alayna Williams from Brittany Laird to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. The Falcons added to their lead in the 24th minute from Addi Martin by Tahlia Lloyd to extend the Messiah lead to 2-0. The Falcons added three shots on goal, but the Eagles goalkeeper made a few saves to keep the score at 2-0 at the half. The Falcons scored the final tally of the game in the 62nd minute on Addi Martin's second goal of the game from Bailie Dull to give the Falcons the 3-0 win.
 
Up next, the Falcons host the Mustangs of Stevenson University in the MAC Commonwealth Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 8. The time of the game will be 1:00 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. pending the Messiah Men's Soccer final tomorrow night.
 
 
First Half
The Falcons opened the game on the attack. Lexi Sarago started the play by send a long ball from the Falcons defensive third to Addi Martin just past the midfield line. Martin then dribbled the ball all the towards the box. Martin then sent a short pass to Brittany Laird headed into the left side of the box. Laird then quickly crossed the ball to Alayna Williams in front of the goal, and she tapped the ball into the back of the net to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. The Falcons continued on the attack with three straight shots on goal from Addi Martin, but each shot was saved to keep the game at 1-0 in the 19th minute. The Falcons continued to push the pace and looked to add to their lead in the 24th minute. Martin stole the ball off an Eastern throw in the Messiah attacking third and then passed it to Tahlia Lloyd. Lloyd quickly sent a pass back to Martin and she ripped a curler into the left side of the goal to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. The Falcons added two shots on goal from Hannah Adair and a shot on goal from Hannah Lashley, but each shot was saved to keep the score at 2-0 entering the break.
 
Second Half
After some back-and-forth play, the Falcons looked to add to their lead in the 62nd minute. Ella Lent-Koop got the ball in the Falcons' attacking third and passed the ball forward to Mia Libby. Libby sent a low ball towards the right corner of the box to Bailie Dull. Dull fought off a defender and sent a pass to Addi Martin in the center of the box. Martin turned and ripped a shot into the top-left corner to extend the Falcons lead to 3-0. The Falcons added a shot on goal from Tahlia Lloyd in the rest of the game, but the shot was saved, and the Falcons earned the 3-0 win.
 
Stats
Addi Martin led the Falcons with two goals. Alayna Williams also scored a goal. Bailie Dull, Brittany Laird, and Tahlia Lloyd each tallied an assist! The Falcons totaled 22 shots with 11 shots on goal. The Eagles tallied one shot. The Falcons earned seven corner kicks to the Eagles' one. Ava Wert earned the win in goal. Ellie Ockrin also earned time in goal for the Falcons.
