ASHLAND, Va. – On Saturday afternoon, the Messiah University baseball team dropped game one of the three games series against the sixteenth-ranked Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College, 7-4. The Falcons started the scoring with two runs in the first on an RBI single from
Dylan Beard and an RBI ground out from
Dustin Isanogle. The Falcons added another run in the second on an RBI single from
Isaiah Parido, but the Yellow Jackets answered back with a run of their own to make it 3-1 after two innings. The Falcons scored three runs in the third to take a one-run lead before
Jarrett Gordon hit a solo home to tie the game at 4. The Yellow Jackets scored two in the fifth and one in the seventh to earn the 7-4 win.

The Falcons looked for an early lead in the top of the first.
Isaiah Parido led off the inning with a walk and after a fly out,
Evan Wagaman singled to put runners on first and second with one out.
Dylan Beard then hit an RBI single to left to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. After Wagaman and Beard stole second and third,
Dustin Isanogle tallied an RBI on a ground out to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
After
Jason Long worked around two base runners in the bottom of the first, the Falcons looked to add to their 2-0 lead in the top of the second.
Luke Ott led off the inning with a triple to right center and after a ground out,
Isaiah Parido hit an RBI single to left field to push the Falcons lead to 3-0. The Yellow Jackets responded in the bottom of the second with one run on an RBI single to reduce the Falcons lead to two headed into the third.
After the Falcons went down in order in the top of the third, the Yellow Jackets totaled three runs on three hits, two walks, and an error to take a 4-3 lead after three innings.
The Yellow Jackets would not have the lead for long, as
Jarrett Gordon led off the top of the fourth with a solo home run to left field to tie the game at four.
Neither team added any runs until the Yellow Jackets broke the tie game with two runs on two hits and an error in the bottom of the fifth to give Randolph-Macon a 6-4 lead.
The Yellow Jackets added another run on two hits in the bottom of the seventh to extend their lead to 7-4.
The Falcons tallied one hit the rest of the way on a
Dustin Isanogle single, but the Falcons could not add any runs, and the Yellow Jackets earned the 7-4 win.
