GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Wednesday evening, the Messiah University men's lacrosse team dropped their game against the Diplomats of Franklins and Marshall College, 22-10. The Diplomats started the game strong with a 7-1 lead after the first quarter. The Diplomats continued the momentum into the second, outscoring the Falcons by four to take a 13-3 lead in the half. The Falcons and Diplomats both scored four goals in the third to move the score to 17-7 headed into the final quarter. The Diplomats outscored the Falcons by two in the final quarter to earn the 22-10 win.
Owen Hammel and
Quentin Davis each tallied a hat-trick.
Mike McKnelly added three assists.

First Quarter
The Falcons opened the game strong with a goal from
Jesse Lynch in just 21 seconds into the game. The Diplomats responded with seven straight goals to end the first quarter with a 7-1 lead.
Second Quarter
The Diplomats continued the scoring with a goal in the first 30 seconds of the second. The Falcons though responded with an unassisted goal from
Chad Teresky with 12:10 remaining in the second to reduce the Falcons deficit to six. The Diplomats then rattled off four straight goals to increase their lead to 10 with just under five minutes remaining in the half. The Falcons answered the run with a man-up goal by
Bobby Berg from
Mike McKnelly, but the Diplomats added another goal just before the half ended to put the score at 13-3 headed into the break.
Third Quarter
The Falcons opened the third quarter strong scoring four of the first five goals to reduce the Diplomats lead to 14-7 with 5:48 remaining in the third.
Owen Hammel led the Falcons during the stretch with three goals. The Diplomats ended the third with three straight goals to push their lead to 17-7 headed into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
The Diplomats scored the first two goals of the quarter, but
Quentin Davis scored two-straight goals to answer the strong start for the Diplomats in the fourth. The Diplomats outscored the Falcons 3-1 in the final eight minutes of the fourth to earn the 22-10 win.
Quentin Davis added his third goal of the night just before time expired for the Falcons.
