Offensive Firepower Leads Seahawks Past Falcons

GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Wednesday evening, the Messiah University men's lacrosse team fell to the Seahawks of St. Mary's (Md.), 26-10. The Seahawks opened the game strong, outscoring the Falcons 6-2 in the first quarter. The offense kept rolling in the second as the Seahawks outscored the Falcons 7-4 to take a 13-6 lead into the half. The Seahawks outscored the Falcons 8-2 in the third to extend their lead to 21-8 headed into the fourth. The Seahawks finished off the game outscoring the Falcons by three to earn the 26-10 win. Bobby Berg led the Falcons with five points on three goals and two assists. Chad Teresky added four points on two goals and two assists. Owen Hammel and Michael Cook each scored two goals.
 
Up next, the Falcons to Saltsburg, Pa at the Kiski School for a neutral site game against the College of Wooster on Wednesday, March 19 at 4:00 p.m.

First Quarter
After the Seahawks opened the game with a goal in the first three minutes, the Falcons tied the game with a goal by Bobby Berg with 10 minutes remaining in the first. The Seahawks then rattled off three-straight goals to take a 4-1 lead with just under eight minutes remaining in the quarter. The Falcons broke the run with an unassisted goal from Chad Teresky to reduce the Seahawks lead to two. The Seahawks though ended the first with two straight goals to take a 6-2 lead headed into the second.
 
Second Quarter
The Falcons started the second strong with a goal by Chad Teresky from Bobby Berg to cut the Falcons deficit to three. The Seahawks though answered back with two straight goals to take a 8-3 lead with 12 minutes remaining in the half. Bobby Berg added another goal just two minutes later to cut the Seahawks lead to four. The Seahawks though outscored the Falcons 5-2 in the final five minutes of the half to take a 13-6 lead into the break. Michael Cook and Owen Hammel each scored a goal for the Falcons during the stretch.
 
Third Quarter
The Seahawks kept the momentum rolling into the third with two straight goals to open the second half. The Falcons then outscored the Seahawks, 2-1 in the next couple minutes to reduce the Seahawks lead to 16-8 with 10 minutes remaining in the third. Owen Hammel and Michael Cook each scored for the Falcons during the stretch. The Seahawks ended the third with five straight goals to take a 21-8 lead headed into the fourth.
 
Fourth Quarter
The Seahawks outscored the Falcons 5-2 in the fourth to earn the 26-10 win. Bobby Berg and Will Ehrhart each scored the final two goals for the Falcons.
 
Stats
Bobby Berg led the Falcons with five points on three goals and two assists. Chad Teresky added four points on two goals and two assists. Owen Hammel and Michael Cook each scored two goals. Cook also led the Falcons with three caused turnovers. Ben Antel won 11 faceoffs and scooped up three ground balls. Jourdain Algarin earned the start in the cage for the Falcons and made six saves. Aidan Hickey also earned time in the goal and made six saves.
