TRENTON, N.J. – On Saturday afternoon, the Messiah University baseball team defeated the Eagles of Eastern University in two close games to earn the season series sweep.
In game one, the Falcons went up 2-0 in the top of the third, but the Eagles answered back in the bottom half with a run to put the score at 2-1 through three innings. Both teams added a run in the fifth to put the score at 3-2 headed into the final two innings. The Falcons added a run in the top of the seventh, but
Noah Barrall shut down the Eagles in the final two innings to give the Falcons the 4-2 win.
Drew Hurst led the Falcons with two hits and two RBIs.
Isaiah Parido also tallied two hits and had an RBI.
Jarrett Gordon totaled a hit and an RBI.
Noah Barrall earned the save pitching two innings, allowing no base runners and striking out three batters.
In game two, the Falcons got the scoring started again with two runs in the top of the second. After the Eagles answered back with a run in the bottom of the second, the Falcons pushed their lead to 4-1 after two runs in the top of the third. The Falcons added two more runs in the top of the fifth to increase their lead to five. The Eagles, however, would not go away and scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to reduce the Falcons lead to 6-5. Each team scored a run in the eighth, but
Zachary Harris closed the door in the ninth to give the Falcons the 7-6 win.
Luke Ott led the Falcons with three hits and a run scored.

Game One: Messiah 4, Eastern 2
After two scoreless innings, the Falcons looked break the scoreless tie in the top of the third. After a leadoff ground out,
Isaiah Parido reached base on a walk.
Jarrett Gordon then ripped an RBI double to left field to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Drew Hurst then hit an RBI single up the middle to push the Falcons lead to two.
The Eagles then scored a run in the bottom third on a on an RBI double to reduce the Falcons lead to 2-1 through three innings.
After a scoreless fourth inning, the Falcons looked to add to their one run lead.
Dustin Isanogle led off the inning with a double to left field to give the Falcons a runner in scoring position with no outs.
Isaiah Parido then hit an RBI single to right center to push the Falcons lead to 3-1. The Falcons did not add another run in the fifth, but the Eagles answered back with a run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single to reduce the Falcons lead to 3-2 headed into the final two innings.
The Falcons added a run in the top of seventh on a
Drew Hurst RBI ground out, but the story of the final two innings was the two innings of dominance from
Noah Barrall to earn the save and give the Falcons the 4-2 win.

After a scoreless first inning, the Falcons looked once again score first in the top of the second.
Evan Wagaman led off the inning with a triple to left center to give the Falcons a prime scoring opportunity.
Carter Reid then hit an RBI double to left field to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. After Red advanced to third on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt,
David Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles reduced the Falcons lead to one in the bottom of the second with an RBI double.
The Falcons bats stayed hot in the top of the third.

The Eagles were not going down without a fight and scored four runs in the bottom of sixth on five hits, but the Falcons escaped the inning with the 6-5 lead.
After a scoreless seventh inning, the Falcons looked to build on their one-run lead in the top of the eighth. After a lead off fly out,
Luke Ott singled up the middle. After Ott advanced on a wild pitch,
Nick Moyer hit an RBI single to push the Falcons lead to 7-5.
The Eagles scored a run on an RBI double, but the Falcons got out of the inning with a 7-6 lead.
The Falcons did not add any runs, but
Zachary Harris earned the save with a 1-2-3 inning to give the Falcons the 7-6 win.
