Men’s Lacrosse Flies Past Golden Wolves

READING, Pa. – On Wednesday evening, the Messiah University men's lacrosse team cruised to a 12-3 win over the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University. The Falcons opened the game strong taking a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. With some stifling defense, the Falcons shut out the Golden Wolves in the second and scored four goals to take a commanding 8-1 lead at the break. Both teams scored two goals in the third to put the game at 10-3 entering the final quarter of play. The Falcons shut down the Alvernia offense once again in the fourth to earn the 12-3 win. Bobby Berg led the Falcons with four points on two goals and two assists and added a game-high three caused turnovers. Will Ehrhart and Owen Hammel each scored a hat trick. Ben Ferrell added three points on two goals and an assist.
 
Up next, the Falcons host the ninth-ranked Spartans of York College on Saturday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m.

First Quarter
The Falcons started the game strong with three-straight goals to give the Falcons an early 3-0 lead with 9:35 remaining in the first. Will Ehrhart, Bobby Berg, and Quentin Davis each scored a goal for the Falcons during the run. Four minutes later, the Golden Wolves got on the board to reduce the Falcons lead to two. Bobby Berg quickly scored his second goal of the night less than a minute later to push the Falcons lead back to three at the end of the first.
 
Second Quarter
The Falcons once again started the quarter strong with three goals in the first five minutes to extend the Falcons lead to 7-1. Owen Hammel, Will Ehrhart, and Ben Ferrell each scored for the Falcons during the stretch. The Falcons added another goal from Hammel with 7:30 remaining in the half, but both defenses locked down each other's offenses and the Falcons held a 8-1 lead at the half.
 
Third Quarter
The Falcons kept the early quarter pressure on the Golden Wolves defense with two goals to open the third to extend the Falcons lead to 10-1. Owen Hammel and Ben Ferrell each scored a goal each for the Falcons. The Golden Wolves though scored the final two goals on the third to reduce the Falcons lead to 10-3 headed into the final quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter
The Falcons scored a goal in the first five minutes with Will Ehrhart scoring for the Falcons to push the Falcons lead to 11-3. Michael Cook scored the final goal of the game on a man-up goal from Bobby Berg to give the Falcons the 12-3 win. The Falcon's defense was impressive all night, shutting out the Golden Wolves in two of the four quarters.

Bobby Berg led the Falcons with four points on two goals and two assists and added a game-high three caused turnovers. Will Ehrhart and Owen Hammel each scored a hat trick. Ben Ferrell added three points on two goals and an assist. David Gross, Walker Penchansky, and Brady Miller each led the Falcons defense with two caused turnovers. Ben Antel and Bradley Simons each won three faceoffs for the Falcons. Jourdain Algarin earned the win in the cage for the Falcons and made eight saves. Aidan Hickey also earned time in goal for the Falcons and made one save.
