Strong Efforts Continue on Day Two of MAC Championship

YORK, Pa. – The Messiah Women's Track and Field team returned to York College for Day Two of the 2025 Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 2. Highlighting Day Two for the Falcons was a top time in the 400 Meter Dash Prelims for Halle Jennett and a second-place finish in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase for Teddi Powell.

Messiah is in fifth as a team with 24 points after two days of competition.

The Falcons will return for the final day of the Championships on Saturday, May 3. With the projected forecast of rain later in the day, the meet now has a 10:00 a.m. start time.

On The Track
Action on the track opened with the 3000 Meter Steeplechase that saw Teddi Powell and Samantha Mynio earn podium finishes with Elizabeth Anthony also competing. Powell earned a second place finish after crossing the line in a personal best time of 11:33.58. Mynio used a final lap of 1:41.22 to finish in eighth with a time of 12:50.85, claiming a spot on the podium.
Rounding out the trio was Anthony in a time of 13:52.90.

The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Kara Brown, Emma Graybill, Clara Benner, and Arwyn Gruenwald combined for a time of 50.58, a season best by three seconds, finishing sixth in the field.

As the lone Falcons in the 110 Meter Hurdle prelims, Kara Brown finished with a time of 15.43 to earn a spot in Saturday's final. Senior Halle Jennett advances to the 400 Meter Dash final after finishing with the top time in the prelim, crossing the line in a personal best time of 58.24.

Arwyn Gruenwald competed in the open 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash, clocking times of 12.96 and 26.95 respectively. Gruenwald's times placed her just outside of qualifying for finals in both events.

Earning a spot in the 800 Meter Run final was Elana Pineda who finished with a personal best time of 2:20.00, the fourth fastest of prelims. Finishing just outside of qualifying with a time of 2:24.71 was Kerrigan Lebo. Meagan Kime crossed the line in a time of 2:30.45.

The Falcons' final efforts on the track for Day Two came in the form of the 400 Meter Hurdles. Clara Benner earned a spot in finals after running a new personal best time of 1:07.00.

In The Field
Action in the field began with the Discus Throw where Jaclyn Steenstra just missed a spot on the podium, finishing ninth with a new personal best throw of 34.06 meters. Finishing with a toss of 31.96 meters was Leah Ritzman, setting a new best by over a meter.

The day wrapped up with a pair of Falcons in the High Jump. Leah Youtzy earned a spot on the podium after clearing a height of 1.57 meters, a new personal best. Three competitors cleared 1.57 meters, and the tie-break placed Youtzy in fifth. Kara Brown cleared a height of 1.51 meters.
