GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday evening, the eighth-ranked Messiah University women's soccer team earned the 3-0 win over Ursinus College for
Scott Frey's 500th career win. The Falcons started the game strong controlling the possession, which eventually led to a goal from
Mia Libby in the 24th minute to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons then added to their lead in the 38th minute on a header from Audrea Frederick from
Hannah Lashley to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead headed into the break. Neither team got on the board until
Nikki Davis scored a goal as time expired from
Hannah Adair to give the Falcons a 3-0 win.
Up next, the Falcons travel to Westminster, Md. to take on the Green Terror of McDaniel College on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 4:00 p.m.
First Half
The Falcons offense started the game in control with two shots on goal from Alyana Williams, and a shot on goal from
Brittany Laird,
Addi Martin, and
Hannah Adair in the first 20 minutes, but each shot was saved by the Bears goalkeeper and the game remained scoreless. The Falcons though kept the pressure on the Bears and looked to break the scoreless tie in the 24th minute.
Ella Lent-Koop sent a long pass from the Falcons defense up to
Mia Libby. Libby dribbled the ball and then sent a strike into the bottom-right corner to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons continued to put the pressure on the Bears' defense and looked to add to their lead in the 38th minute. On a corner kick,
Hannah Lashley sent the ball into the middle of the box.
Aundrea Frederick jumped up and headed the ball into the back of the goal to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
Second Half
The Falcons started the second half with some more scoring chances. After a few Falcons' shots went wide,
Addi Martin got a shot on goal, but the Bears' goalkeeper made the save. The Bears' then got their first scoring chance of the second half, but
Ava Wert made the save and kept the Falcons 2-0 lead in the 64th minute. The two teams went back-and-forth for the remainder of the game, until the Falcons earned a corner kick as time was expiring.
Hannah Adair sent the ball in front of the goal and
Nikki Davis sent the ball into the back of the goal before time expired for her first career goal.

Ava Wert earned the shutout win for the Falcons and made three saves. Wert has totaled four shutouts to start the 2025 season.
Coach Frey's 500 Win
With the win tonight,
Scott Frey earned his 500th career win. Frey has a career record at Messiah of 500-33-37. He currently ranks second amongst active coaches in career wins and ranks sixth in all-time DIII coaching wins. Coach Frey has totaled six National Championships, 24 NCAA Tournament appearances, 21 Conference Championships, and four National Coach of the Year honors in his 26th season at the helm for the Falcons.
