SWARTHMORE, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the Messiah University men's lacrosse team fell to the eighteenth-ranked Garnet of Swarthmore College 16-7. The Falcons opened the game strong with a 3-2 lead after the first quarter. The Garnet then outscored the Falcons by three to take a 6-4 lead at the half. The Garnet outscored the Falcons 10-3 in the second half to earn the 16-7 win.
Quinn Foster and
Jesse Lynch totaled a goal and an assist.
Bobby Berg and
Michael Cook each scored two goals.
Jourdain Algarin made 14 saves in the cage for the Falcons.

First Quarter
After almost seven minutes of scoreless play, the Garnet scored the first goal of the game to take the lead. The Falcons then scored three straight goals with
Bobby Berg,
Quentin Davis, and
Jesse Lynch each scoring to give Messiah a 3-1 lead with 3:43 remaining in the first. The Garnet scored a goal in the final three minutes to reduce the Falcons lead to one headed into the second quarter.
Second Quarter
The Garnet opened the second with two straight goals to take a 4-3 lead with 9:50 remaining in the second. After five minutes of scoreless play,
Quinn Foster tied the game at four with four minutes remaining in the half. The Garnet then scored two unanswered to close the first half with a 6-4 lead.
Third Quarter
The Garnet kept the momentum going and scored two straight goals to start the second half to give Swarthmore an 8-4 lead with just under eight remaining in the third. The Falcons then responded with a goal from
Michael Cook to cut the Garnet lead to three with seven minutes remaining in the quarter. The Garnet scored two more goals in the quarter, but
Bobby Berg added a goal from
Quinn Foster in the final 30 seconds to put the score at 10-6 headed into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The Garnet opened the fourth with a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 14-6 with eight minutes remaining in the game. The Falcons added one more goal from
Michael Cook and the Garnet added two more to put the final score at 16-7.
