Men’s Lacrosse Takes Down Bearcats in Back-and-Forth Battle

GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the Messiah University men's lacrosse team defeated the Bearcats of Saint Vincent College, 9-7 for the 2026 home opener. Both teams started the game with two goals each to keep the game tied at the end of the first. The Falcons outscored the Bearcats, 4-3 in the second to take a 6-5 lead at the half. The Falcons outscored the Bearcats by one in the third to take an 8-6 lead into the fourth. Both teams scored one goal in the fourth, with the Falcons defense holding strong to earn the 9-7 win. Quentin Davis led the Falcons with three points on two goals and one assist. Bobby Berg, Rowan Foster, and Jesse Lynch each scored two goals. Trey Bui added a goal and an assist. Jourdain Algarin earned the win in goal for the Falcons and made 12 saves.
 
Up next, the Falcons travel to Center Valley, Pa. to take on the Bulldogs of DeSales University on Friday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m.
 
First Quarter
The Bearcats got on the board first with a goal two minutes into the game to take the early lead. Bobby Berg then tied the game at one with a goal from Trey Bui with just under 11 minutes to go in the first. After over eight minutes of scoreless play, Berg scored a man-up goal from Quentin Davis to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead with two minutes remaining in the first. The Bearcats then tied the game at two with less than 30 seconds remaining in the first.
 
Second Quarter
The Bearcats kept the momentum and scored the in the first minute and 40 seconds to take a 3-2 lead early in the second. The Falcons answered back two minutes later with a goal from Rowan Foster to tie the game at three. After Bearcats goal, the Falcons responded with a goal from Trey Bui and Foster to take a 5-4 lead with 7:20 remaining in the second. The back-and-forth battle continued with a Bearcats goal just a minute later to tie the game at five. The Falcons continued to respond though with a goal from Quentin Davis by Brayden Kuhar to give Messiah a 6-5 lead at the half.
 
Third Quarter
The Bearcats scored the opening goal of the third to tie the game at six with 13:08 remaining in the third. Four minutes later, Jesse Lynch scored a goal from Quinn Foster to give the Falcons back the lead with nine minutes remaining in the third. Lynch then scored another goal with five minutes remaining in the third to push the Falcons lead to two headed into the final quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter
The Bearcats scored in the first 10 seconds on the fourth to reduce the Falcons lead to one. After six minutes of scoreless play, Quentin Davis scored his second goal of the game to push the Falcons lead to 9-7 with 8:26 remaining in the game. The Falcons defense locked down the Bearcats attack in the final eight minutes with Saint Vincent only tallying two shots on the cage the rest of the game to give the Falcons the 9-7 win.

Quentin Davis led the Falcons with three points on two goals and one assist. Bobby Berg, Rowan Foster, and Jesse Lynch each scored two goals. Trey Bui added a goal and an assist. Chris Esslinger led the Falcons with two caused turnovers and five ground balls. Adam Nielsen also added a caused turnover and four ground balls. Ben Antel and Zach Sebra won six faceoffs and scooped up three ground balls each. Jourdain Algarin earned the win in goal for the Falcons and made 12 saves.
