OWINGS MILLS, Md. – On Friday afternoon, the Messiah University baseball team used a seven-run third inning to defeat the Mustangs of Stevenson University, 10-2 in a rain shortened game. After two scoreless innings to open the game, the Falcons poured on seven runs in the top of the third to take an early lead. The Mustangs answered back with a run in the bottom of the third to cut the Falcons lead to six. The Falcons added a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to take a 10-1 lead. After the added a run in the bottom of the seventh, the game was called due to weather in the top of the eighth and the Falcons earned the 10-2 win.
Drew Hurst and
Isaiah Parido led the Falcons with two hits and two RBIs.
Landon Mark added two hits.
Cristian Reyna totaled a hit and two RBIs.
Daniel Knight tossed seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts.

Messiah 10, Stevenson 2: Final Seven Innings
After two scoreless innings, the Falcons look to take the lead in the top of the third.
Brayden Kratz led off the inning with a single to center. After a
Landon Mark single,
Isaiah Parido hit a two-RBI triple to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
Cristian Reyna then hit an RBI double to increase the lead to three. The hit parade continued as
Drew Hurst then hit an RBI single to push the Falcons lead to four. After two outs,
Nick Moyer then hit an RBI double down the left-field line to extend the Falcons lead to five.
Matt Luchovick then brought in Moyer with an RBI single. The Falcons scored the final run on the inning off a failed pickoff attempt to give the Falcons a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the third.
The Mustangs responded back with a run in the bottom of the third off an RBI single to reduce the Falcons lead to 7-1 headed into the fourth.
The Falcons added back a run in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly from
David Martinez that scored
Isaiah Parido to push the Falcons lead back to seven.
After a scoreless fifth, the Falcons looked to add to their lead into the top of the sixth.
Landon Mark led off the inning with a single to left. After
Isaiah Parido walked, both runners stole second and third to put two runners in scoring position with no outs.
Cristian Reyna then hit a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Falcons a 9-1 lead.
Drew Hurst then hit an RBI single to give the Falcons a 10-1 lead.
The Mustangs added a run in the bottom of the seventh, but in the top of the eighth, the game was called due to rain, and the Falcons earned the 10-2 win.
