OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Messiah Softball team was in action today for a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader against Stevenson University, with the Falcons sweeping the Mustangs. In game one, the Falcons scored 10 runs in the first three innings en route to a 10-5 win.
Fallon Feaser had three hits and three RBIs for the Falcons.
Brielle Rosario added three hits, including a triple. In game two,
Kelli Durbin pitched a dominant outing in the circle, and the Falcons got timely hits, leading to a 6-0 win.
Ava Fair had two hits with three RBIs.
Allie Book had one hit and two RBIs.
Fallon Feaser and
Lucy Murphy both added two hits.
Up next, the Falcons are at back at home for a doubleheader against Marymount University on Tuesday, Mar. 24, at 2:30 p.m.
Game One: Messiah – 10, Stevenson – 5
Ava Fair got on base with a one-out single, stealing second and reaching third on a passed ball.
Fallon Feaser then delivered a single, scoring Fair to make it 1-0, Messiah.
Allie Book followed with a single and
Rebekah Wiley walked to the load the bases.
Lucy Murphy was up next, and she delivered with an RBI single to make it 2-0, keeping the bases loaded. Now with two outs in the inning,
Kelli Durbin put a ball into play, reaching on an error that scored two runs, making it 4-0 after the top of the first. The Mustangs got one run back on two hits in the bottom half of the inning to make it 4-1.
Asia Harding led off the top of the second with a walk.
Mia Libby came in to pinch run and quickly stole second.
Brielle Rosario singled to the shortstop, and
Ava Fair walked to load the bases for
Fallon Feaser. Feaser singled through the left side of the infield, scoring Libby and Rosario to make it 6-1.
Allie Book reached on a fielder's choice that moved
Ava Fair to third, with Book then stealing second to move into scoring position.
Rebekah Wiley then singled to score Fair, extending the Falcons lead to 7-1. In the bottom half of the inning,
Fallon Feaser pitched a scoreless frame, striking out the final batter.
Lucy Murphy walked and
Josi Tolentino reached on a bunt-single to give the Falcons two runners on with no outs.
Kelli Durbin reached on an error that scored Murphy, and
Brielle Rosario smacked a one-out triple to left field, clearing the bases to make it 10-1. The Mustangs got two runs back on two hits in the bottom of the third.
The Mustangs added another run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 10-4.
Kelli Durbin and
Brielle Rosario both singled in the top of the fifth, but the Falcons couldn't get another run home.
Fallon Feaser added her third hit of the game in the top of the sixth, but neither team scored in the inning.
Kylie Thompson tripled in the seventh for Messiah, but the Falcons failed to score again. The Mustangs added one final run in the bottom of the inning, but the Falcons held on to win, 10-5.

Lucy Murphy got the lone hit for the Falcons in the first two innings, and
Kelli Durbin picked up two strikeouts as the pitchers kept it scoreless heading into the third.
In the top of the third,
Ashley Bryant and
Brielle Rosario picked up back-to-back one-out singles.
Ava Fair then delivered a two RBI triple into left field to give Messiah a 2-0 lead. Next,
Allie Book extended the Falcons lead with an RBI single, making it 3-0.
Kelli Durbin followed the offensive outburst with a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of third.
After a scoreless fourth,
Fallon Feaser led off the top of the fifth with a triple.
Allie Book then got the RBI to make it 4-0, and
Kelli Durbin pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half.
Kelli Durbin reached on an error in the top of the sixth, followed by
Brielle Rosario also reaching on an error that allowed Durbin to come around to score to make it 5-0.
Ava Fair added her third hit of the day with an RBI single to make it 6-0, and
Fallon Feaser tacked on another hit, but the Falcons didn't score anymore runs.
Kelli Durbin and
Josi Tolentino both singled in the top of the seventh, and Durbin shut down the Mustangs offense in the bottom half to complete the shutout, giving Messiah a 6-0 victory.
