GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Messiah University baseball team used a brilliant seven-inning shutout performance from
Devin Aponte on the mound to lead the Falcons to a 10-0 win over the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College. After a scoreless first, the Falcons got on the board in the bottom of the second with a run. The Falcons got back on the board in the fourth with four runs to extend their lead to 5-0. The Falcons added two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to earn the run-rule 10-0 win in seven innings.
Devin Aponte led the Falcons on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout, allowing two hits, two walks, and striking out five batters. Aponte took a no-hitter into the seventh before the Dutchmen tallied two hits in the top of the seventh with two outs.
Isaiah Parido led the Falcons with two hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored.
Landon Mark totaled two hits and two runs scored.
Kyler Parks added a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Messiah 10, LVC 0 – Final 7 Innings
After a two scoreless innings from
Devin Aponte on the mound, the Falcons looked to get on the board first in the bottom of the second. After a strikeout,
Nick Moyer reached on a walk and then
Carter Reid singled to right field to give the Falcons runners on first and third with no outs.
David Martinez then hit a sacrifice fly to center to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Landon Mark then singled and advanced to second on an error by the Dutchmen center fielder to give the Falcons runners on second and third with one out. After
Kyler Parks reached on a walk to load the bases, the Falcons ended the inning with a lineout to keep the score at 1-0.
After a scoreless third, the Falcons looked to add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Carter Reid and
David Martinez reached on a hit by pitch and then
Landon Mark walked to load the bases with no outs. After a lineout,
Isaiah Parido hit a two-RBI single to right to push the Falcons lead to 3-0. The Falcons added to their lead with a run on a wild pitch on ball four to
Cristian Reyna to take a 4-0 lead.
Drew Hurst then hit an RBI ground out to push the Falcons lead to five through four innings.
After a scoreless fourth inning, the Falcons looked to get back on the board in the bottom of the sixth.

Cristian Reyna loaded the bases with back-to-back hit by pitches with no outs.
Drew Hurst then walked with the bases loaded to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead.
Nick Moyer then grounded into a fielder's choice, but the Falcons added another run to take a seven-run lead.
Devin Aponte continued to deal on the mound with another scoreless inning in the seventh, but the Dutchmen broke up Aponte's no-hitter with a pair of two-out hits.
The Falcons looked to keep the momentum going in the bottom of the seventh at the plate.
Landon Mark doubled to left center to give the Falcons a lead off runner in scoring position.
Kyler Parks then hit an RBI triple down the right-field line to extend the Falcons lead to eight.
Isaiah Parido then hit an RBI double into the left-center gap to give the Falcons a 9-0 lead. Parido scored from second on a throwing error by the Dutchmen's second basemen on a pickoff attempt to give the Falcons the run-rule 10-0 win.
