YORK, Pa. – The Messiah Women's Track and Field team was in action at York College for the York Twilight Meet on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons finished sixth as a team out of 13 teams. Messiah totaled 15 top ten finishes while collecting seven personal bests and seven season bests. Highlighting the efforts was a second place finish in the 5000 Meter Run from
Delaney Turk and a third place finish from
Elana Pineda in the 800 Meter Run.
The Falcons will return to action for the Annual Messiah Multi and Invitational to take place at Starry Athletic Complex from Thursday, April 9 through Saturday, April 11.
On the Track
Action on the track opened with the 100 Meter Dash, highlighted by
Arwyn Gruenwald clocking a 12.98 to finish seventh.
Dajea Batchler added a personal best time of 13.17 and
Alivia Ritenour crossed the line in a time of 15.61.
Kara Brown finished eighth in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.91.
Kaitlyn Albrecht crossed the line in a season best time of 17.70.
Highlighting action on the track was a trio of Falcons finishing in the top ten in the 800 Meter Run.
Elana Pineda was the third runner to cross the line, finishing in a time of 2:18.99.
Kerrigan Lebo finished in fifth with a time of 2:21.62 with
Madison Kimmel right behind in sixth with a personal best time of 2:21.99.
Meagan Kime finished in tenth with a time of 2:28.08. Adding a personal best time was
Elizabeth Biehl in 2:30.18 with
Paulina Torres clocking a season best time of 2:34.33. Also running a season best was
Linnea Haney who crossed in a time of 2:38.14, just ahead of teammate Helen Blakeslee who finished in 2:38.62.
The 4x100 Meter Relay team of
Arwyn Gruenwald,
Kaitlyn Albrecht,
Lily Scheetz, and
Dajea Batchler combined for a time of 50.97.
Kaitlynn Yeager was the lone Falcon to toe the line in the 400 Meter Hurdles, crossing in a time of 1:20.42.
Kenzee Wiker led a large contingent of Falcons in the 1500 Meter Run, crossing in a time of 5:02.30 to finish tenth.
Alleha Glenn (5:12.67) and
Emmie Battersby (5:17.28) were the next Falcons to cross the line. The next trio of Falcons to cross were
Samantha Mynio (5:26.04),
Aubrey Yeager (5:30.83), and
Kayra DeVries (5:31.37).
Katie Gardner crossed in a time of 5:37.18, just ahead of teammate
Elizabeth Anthony who clocked a personal best time of 5:39.98.
Grace Bath and
Linnea Haney were the next to cross for Messiah in respective times of 5:51.17 and 6:00.22 before
Kelsey Hoffman clocked in at 6:13.68.
Lexi Lapp (6:24.33),
Abigail Smith (6:30.31), and
Lia Widenhofer (6:41.17) rounded out the Falcons' efforts.
In the 200 Meter Dash,
Arwyn Gruenwald finished in a time of 27.31 with
Dajea Batchler close behind with a season best 27.45.
Lily Scheetz crossed the line in a time of 28.26.
Delaney Turk was the lone Falcon in the 5000 Meter Run, crossing in a time of 17:50.75 to finish second in the field of 33.
Messiah closed out action on the track with a third-place finish in the 4x400 Meter Relay. The team of
Elizabeth Biehl,
Lily Scheetz,
Madison Kimmel, and
Elana Pineda combined for a time of 4:12.54.
In the Field
Jaclyn Steenstra opened action in the field with a toss of 27.71 meters (90'11") in the Discus Throw. Steenstra then led the Falcons with a fifth-place finish in the Hammer Throw after her toss of 39.50 meters (129'7").
Ella Axtell finished with a personal best distance of 32.81 meters (107'7").
In the High Jump,
Kara Brown finished fourth with a season best clearance of 1.50 meters (4'11").
A pair of Falcons finished in the top ten of the Shot Put with season best throws.
Lucy Colyer finished fifth with a distance of 11.41 meters (37'5.25") while
Ella Axtell finished sixth with a distance of 10.69 meters (35'1").
Alivia Ritenour was the lone Messiah representative in the Pole Vault, finishing eighth with a season best clearance of 3.00 meters (9'10"). In the Long Jump,
Kara Brown finished with a mark of 4.52 meters (14'10").
To conclude the day, a pair of Falcons took to the runway for the Javelin Throw.
Brenna Jones finished with a mark of 24.41 meters (80'1"), just ahead of teammate
Libby Jones who finished with a distance of 23.43 meters (76'10").
