GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah Men's Lacrosse team was back in conference action this afternoon, picking up a 19-7 win at home over the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University. Alvernia got the scoring started in the first quarter, but Messiah responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead. The teams each added two more goals in the quarter, with the Falcons leading 5-3. Messiah dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Golden Wolves 4-1 to take a 9-4 lead into the half. The teams traded goals early in the third before Messiah scored three unanswered goals to take a 12-6 lead into the final quarter. Messiah kept up the pressure in the fourth, only allowing one goal while scoring seven enroute to a 19-7 win.
Quentin Davis had five goals and one assist.
Michael Cook had four goals and two assists.
Trey Bui added two goals and three assists.

First Quarter
After the teams battled for control early, Alvernia took the lead on a goal four minutes into the quarter. The Falcons responded three minutes later with a goal from
Rowan Foster to tie the game 1-1. Two minutes later,
Bobby Berg faked out a defender and got in one-on-one with the goalie, scoring to give Messiah the lead with 6:45 left in the quarter. Just over one minute later,
Trey Bui found
Michael Cook for another Messiah goal. Alvernia grabbed another goal at the 4:28 mark, but after a Golden Wolves penalty,
Quentin Davis scored during the man-up advantage. Both teams scored once more in the quarter, with
Owen Hammel closing out the quarter with his first goal to give Messiah a 5-3 lead.
Second Quarter
Quentin Davis scored three straight goals for the Falcons to start the second quarter, with
Trey Bui and
Michael Cook both adding assists. Alvernia got a goal back, but
Bobby Berg quickly responded, scoring off a
Rowan Foster assist at the 6:31 mark. Defense took over for the rest of the quarter, with no goals being scored as the Falcons took a 9-4 lead into the break.
Third Quarter
Alvernia scored one minute into the third to make it 9-5, but the Falcons responded quickly with a goal from
Trey Bui, assisted by
Quentin Davis.
Owen Hammel added a man-up goal a few minutes later to make it 11-5, Messiah. Alvernia scored their seventh goal at the 5:42 mark, but the Falcons took over the for the final five minutes.
Quentin Davis scored at the 2:53 mark,
Quinn Foster scored at the 1:27 mark, and
Michael Cook scored at the :40 second mark to give the Falcons a 14-6 lead heading into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The defenses started strong in the quarter, with no goals being scored in the first five minutes.
Michael Cook got the first goal of the quarter, scoring off an assist from Bobby Berb at the 9:37 mark.
Owen Hammel added a man-up goal two minutes later, but the Golden Wolves quickly got a goal back to make it 16-7, Messiah, with 4:02 left to play. The Falcons offense added three more goals in the final two and half minutes, with
Michael Cook,
Trey Bui, and
Dustin Penchansky all scoring enroute to a 19-7 Falcons win.
