Softball Sweeps Albright On Senior Day

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah Softball team was back in conference action today, welcoming the Lions of Albright College to Grantham for a Senior Day doubleheader, with the Falcons sweeping the Lions to stay a perfect 10-0 in conference play. In game one, Albright had a small lead heading into the bottom of the fourth, but the Falcons blew the game open with two late four-run innings to win 11-6. Allie Book went 4-4 with a double and triple. Brielle Rosario added three hits and two RBIs. In game two, the Falcons got on the board early with a four-run first inning, cruising to an 8-0 win in five innings. Rebekah Wiley had two hits and two RBIs. Kelli Durbin pitched five innings, allowing only two hits and no runs.
 
Up next, the Falcons are back in action against former conference foe Lebanon Valley College for a doubleheader on Monday, Apr. 13, at 3:00 p.m.
 
 
Game One: Messiah – 11, Messiah – 6
After a scoreless top of the first in the circle for Fallon Feaser, Brielle Rosario led off the bottom half of the inning with a single. Rosario moved over to third base after a sacrifice bunt before coming in to score on a Fallon Feaser groundout, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
 
Both pitchers through scoreless second and third innings, with the Lions bats coming alive in the fourth, scoring two runs on three hits to take a 2-1 lead. The Falcons responded well, with Allie Book sending a leadoff triple to right center to get into scoring position. Rebekah Wiley got on base after an error and stole second to also move into scoring position. Lucy Murphy grounded out but came Book home to tie the game 2-2. Kylie Thompson then reached on an error that scored Rebekah Wiley, restoring the Falcons lead. Asia Harding singled down the left field line to score Thompson, and Brielle Rosario singled to center field to score Harding, giving the Falcons a 5-2 lead.
 
Albright responded with a big inning of their own, scoring four runs on four hits to take a 6-5 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, Allie Book got on base with a one-out single and Rebekah Wiley reached on an error to give the Falcons two runners on base. Both runners advanced on a groundout, which brought up Josi Tolentino who sent a single to left center, scoring Book and Wiley to make it 7-6, Messiah.
 
Fallon Feaser pitched another scoreless inning in the top of the sixth to maintain the Falcons lead. Asia Harding tripled to lead of the bottom of the sixth Brielle Rosario followed with an RBI double to make it 8-6. Fallon Feaser then singled down the right field line to score Rosario. Mia Libby came in to pinch run for Feaser and quickly stole second base. Next, Allie Book doubled to score Libby, extending the Messiah lead. Lucy Murphy sent an RBI single down the left field line to score Book, making it 11-6.
 
Fallon Feaser pitched one final scoreless frame in the circle to see out the 11-6 win.

Allie Book went 4-4 with a double and triple. Brielle Rosario added three hits and two RBIs. Fallon Feaser, Lucy Murphy, and Josi Tolentino all added one hit and two RBIs. Asia Harding had two hits with one RBI.
 
 
Game Two: Messiah – 8, Albright – 0 (5 inn.)
Kelli Durbin started the game with a 1-2-3 inning in the circle. Brielle Rosario led off the bottom of the first with a single, then stealing second to move into scoring position. Ava Fair singled to center field Fallon Feaser reached on a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. However, the Lions were able to get two outs on a fielder's choice from Allie Book, as they looked to get out of the inning unscathed. The Falcons responded with a two-out rally, as Rebekah Wiley sent a two-RBI triple to right field to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. Lucy Murphy then doubled to left center, scoring Wiley, before Murphy scored on an error to make it 4-0.
 
Kelli Durbin pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the second, adding another scoreless frame in the third.
 
Fallon Feaser got hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the third. Rebekah Wiley then doubled to give the Falcons two runners in scoring position.  Josi Tolentino followed with a sacrifice fly to score Fallon Feaser, making it 5-0.
 
After a scoreless fourth and scoreless top of the fifth for the Lions, Allie Book doubled to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Lucy Murphy got hit by a pitch and Josi Tolentino walked to load the bases with one out. Asia Harding walked to score a run and Kelli Durbin sent an infield single to the shortstop to score another run, making it 7-0. Brielle Rosario then sent a walk-off single into center to give the Falcons an 8-0 win in five innings.

Rebekah Wiley had two hits and two RBIs. Kelli Durbin pitched five innings, allowing only two hits and no runs. Lucy Murphy, Asia Harding, and Kelli Durbin all added a hit and an RBI. Ava Fair, Fallon Feaser, and Allie Book all tacked on one hit.
