GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah Softball was back in action Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader against the Knights of Arcadia University. The Falcons offense surged in both games, propelling the Falcons to a sweep, with both games ending in five innings due to the run rule. In game one, the Falcons used a nine-run third inning to break the game open, cruising to a 13-0 win in five innings.
McKenna Bunting had three hits with two RBIs, while
Allie Book added two hits and three RBIs.
Kelli Durbin pitched 4.1 innings of one-hit ball in the shutout win. In game two, the Falcons used another nine-run third to pull away from the Knights enroute to a 12-3 win in five innings.
Fallon Feaser had two hits and two RBIs, including her 100th career hit.
Brielle Rosario added three hits with two RBIs.
Up next, the Falcons are back in action for a huge conference matchup at Eastern University on Saturday, Apr. 18, at 1:00 p.m.
Game One: Messiah – 13, Arcadia – 0 (5 inn.)
After a scoreless top of the first,
Brielle Rosario got hit by a pitch and stole a base to get into scoring position with no outs. The Falcons then played some small ball, with
Lucy Murphy dropping a bunt to move Rosario to third, and
Fallon Feaser driving her home with a sacrifice fly to take an early lead.
After a 1-2-3 inning in the second from
Kelli Durbin,
Josi Tolentino sent a one-out double to right center.
McKenna Bunting followed with an RBI-single to make it 2-0.
Kelli Durbin pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the third, followed by a one-out single from
Fallon Feaser.
Allie Book doubled to score Feaser, then
Rebekah Wiley drew a walk.
Mia Libby came in to pinch run for Messiah, which was quickly followed by a two-RBI doubled from
Josi Tolentino to score both runners, making it 5-0.
McKenna Bunting then sent her second RBI-single of the game up the middle to make it 6-0.
Ava Fair got on base with a walk, and then back-to-back Knights errors allowed the Falcons to score two more runs.
Fallon Feaser walked to load the bases, and
Allie Book followed with a two-RBI single to right field to make it 10-0.
Rebekah Wiley singled to score one more run, ending the Falcons nine-run inning.
Kelli Durbin recorded another 1-2-3 inning to retire her ninth batter in a row in the top of the fourth.
Asia Harding and
McKenna Bunting both singled in the bottom of the sixth, with both being moved into scoring position after a productive groundout from
Jalyn Rosario.
Brielle Rosario then doubled to score both, making it 13-0.
Kelli Durbin got one-out in the fifth before
Maeve Hurley came into the game to shut the door on a 13-0 win.

Lucy Murphy reached on an infield single to the shortstop, and
Fallon Feaser drove both runners home with a two-RBI single to right.
Arcadia got on the board for the first time in the second inning, scoring one run on two hits.
After a 1-2-3 inning from
Shaylee Greenland in the third,
Brielle Rosario doubled to lead off the inning,
Lucy Murphy got hit by a pitch and
Fallon Feaser singled to right field to load the bases, picking up her 100th career hit in the process.
Allie Book delivered the big hit, with a two-RBI single to score Rosario and Murphy.
Mia Libby pinch ran for Book, quickly stealing second.
Josi Tolentino followed with a two-RBI single to make it 6-1. Next,
Ashley Bryant sent an RBI-double to right field to score Tolentino, and both
McKenna Bunting and
Ava Fair singled to load the bases.
Brielle Rosario singled up the middle, scoring two more, and
Lucy Murphy singled to score another run, making it 11-1.
The Knights scored one run on two hits in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the inning,
Josi Tolentino walked, advanced to second on a groundout, and scored on an RBI-single from
McKenna Bunting.
Arcadia scored one more run in the fifth, but the Falcons held on to win 12-3 in five due to the run rule.
