GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Wednesday evening, the fifth-ranked Messiah University women's soccer team tied the fifteenth-ranked Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins, 0-0, in a tight defense battle. The Falcons controlled most of the possession in the first half but could not find the back of the net and the score remained tied at the break. The Falcons continued to put the pressure on the Blue Jays defense, but all four of their shots on goal in the second half were saved. The Falcons defense allowed only three shots all game to limit the Blue Jays offense and the two teams tied, 0-0.

Up next, the Falcons take on the Violets of New York University on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m.

First Half
The Falcons offense started strong with an early shot on goal from Lauren Kenny, but the Blue Jays' goalkeeper made the save to keep the Falcons off the board. The Falcons continued to dominate possession and looked for their next big chance in the 23rd minute. The Falcons did not add any more shots on goal, but the Messiah defense did not a single shot in the first half to keep the game scoreless at the break.

Second Half
The Falcons looked to open the second half strong on the offensive end to break the scoreless tie. In the 51st minute, Lexi Sarago sent a free kick into the box and Addi Martin headed the ball towards the goal, but the Johns Hopkins' goalkeeper made the save to keep the game tied. After some back-and-forth play, the Falcons looked to break the scoreless tie in the 81st minute. Addi Martin got a ball in the box and sent a shot on goal, but the Blue Jay's goalkeeper made a great save to keep the game tied. The Falcons continued on the attack and Martin had another high-quality chance at breaking the scoreless tie. Martin this time tried to chip the Blue Jays' keeper from the top of the box, but she read it perfectly and kept the game scoreless. The Falcons last chance was a long-range shot from Brittany Hoffman, but the Blue Jays' goalkeeper made the save to end the game in scoreless tie.
