GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Wednesday evening, the ninth-ranked Messiah University women's soccer team used two first half goals to defeat the Green Terror of McDaniel College, 2-1.
The Falcons offense started the game strong with a goal in the 21st minute from
Addi Martin by
Hannah Lashley to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons continued to pressure the Green Terror defense with a goal in the 38th minute by
Molly Adams from
Mia Libby to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead at the break. The Green Terror cut the Falcons lead to one with a goal in the 55th minute. The Falcons defense shut down the Green Terror attack for the final 35 minutes to earn the 2-1 win.

First Half
The Falcons offense started the game strong with a shot on goal from
Tessa Groff in the sixth minute, but the shot was saved to keep the game tied early. The Falcons continued the pressure with a
Lauren Kenny shot on goal in the 18th minute, but once again the McDaniel goalkeeper made the save. The Falcons continued the attack and looked to break the scoreless tie in the 21st minute. After some passing through the midfield by
Brittany Hoffman,
Hannah Lashley, and
Mia Libby, Lashley got the ball outside of the box and sent a cross into the middle of the box.
Addi Martin chested the ball down, took a touch, and ripped a shot into the bottom-right corner to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Green Terror looked for a quick answer in the 23rd minute with a shot on goal, but
Ellie Ockrin made a sliding save to hold the Falcons lead at 1-0. The Falcons continued to put pressure on the McDaniel defense in the 38th minute. After
Mia Libby and
Molly Adams played a one-two, Libby got the ball in the corner. Libby made a touch past her defender and dribbled towards the end line. Libby then slotted a pass in front of the goal and Adams sent a shot, past the diving McDaniel goalkeeper, and into the back of the net to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
Second Half
The Green Terror opened the second half strong with a great chance in the 47th minute, but
Ellie Ockrin made a save to keep the Falcons lead at 2-0. The Green Terror though got on the board in the 55th minute to cut the Falcons lead to one. The Falcons offense then put the pressure back on the Green Terror with shots on goal from
Brittany Hoffman and
Addi Martin, but each shot was saved to keep the Green Terror within one. The Falcons added two more shots on goal, one from
Morgan Graham and
Hannah Lashley, but the Green Terror goalkeeper made two more saves. The Falcons defense locked down the McDaniel attack and did not allow a single shot after the goal to earn the 2-1 win.

Addi Martin each scored a goal for the Falcons.
Hannah Lashley and
Mia Libby each tallied an assist. The Falcons totaled 23 shots with nine shots on goal. The Green Terror tallied three shots on goal. Messiah earned 13 corners to McDaniel's two.
Ellie Ockrin earned the win in goal for the Falcons and made two saves.
