READING, Pa. - The Messiah College women's tennis team remained undefeated (4-0) in the MAC Commonwealth after they defeated Albright 8-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons moved to 6-5 overall.
Carly Dove and
Emily Wichert (no. 2 doubles) started things off for Messiah with an 8-0 sweep over their doubles opponents. No. 1 doubles
Kelly Hopkins and
Kaitlyn Russell had an impressive performance and picked up an 8-2 win.
Gabby Brooks and
Sarah Summerson won by default to complete doubles play.
Carly Dove (no. 3) and
Sarah Summerson (no. 5) set the tone in singles action and defeated their opponents 6-0,6-0.
Emily Wichert (no. 4) was close behind with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Kelly Hopkins (no.1) battled but fell to Albright's Mara Trifol 6-1, 6-4.
Kaitlyn Russell (no. 2) and
Gabby Brooks (no.6) won their matches by default.
The Falcons have a busy week ahead of them. They will travel to Eastern University on Monday, Apr. 16 and will turn around and host Lycoming College on Tuesday, Apr. 17 in MAC Commonwealth action.
