GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah College women's tennis team defeated Alvernia 7-2 on Saturday afternoon and finished conference play undefeated (7-0). The Falcons finished the regular season with a record of 10-5 and earned the no. 1-seed heading into the MAC Commonwealth Semifinal on Tuesday, May 1st.

Amanda Adams (no. 2 doubles) and

Gabby Brooks (no. 3 doubles) started things off for Messiah after both pairs defeated their opponents 8-0.
Kelly Hopkins and
Kaitlyn Russell were tested in the number one position, but fought hard and won their intense battle 8-4.
In singles action,
Carly Dove (no. 3),
Amanda Adams (no. 4), and
Emily Wichert (no. 5) all swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
Sarah Summerson (no. 6) fought hard and pull out a 7-5 victory in her first set and then dominated in her second set (6-1) to pick up the Falcons' fourth singles win.
Kaitlyn Russell (no. 2) dropped her first set 1-6 but bounced back and defeated her opponent 6-1 in the second. However, Russell wasn't able to hold on and dropped the third set 10-4.
Kelly Hopkins (no. 1) fell to the Golden Wolves' top player 6-2, 6-2.
As previously mentioned, Messiah will enter the MAC Commonwealth tournament as the no. 1-seed and will host either Stevenson University or Lycoming College in the semifinal on Tuesday, May 1st. Check
