Three First-Place Finishes for the Falcons at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.- The Messiah Track and Field team competed at the Ursinus College Outdoor Invitational on a rainy Saturday. Three first-place finishes highlighted the day for the Falcons. Messiah earned a number of top-ten finishes and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship qualifying performances.

The Falcons will return to action in Chester, Pa when they travel to Widener University for the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1.
Messiah earned each of their three victories on the track Saturday. In the 400 Meter Hurdles, Clara Benner earned the victory in a MAC qualifying time of 1:10.76. Katie Anthony cut 10 seconds off her Personal Best in the 1500 Meter Run, crossing the line in a time of 4:55.17. Her time earned her the first-place finish and a spot at MACs. Kate Dickow earned the win in the 5000 Meter Run with a final time of 17:57.65, meeting the MAC standard.

On the Track
In addition to Clara Benner's victory noted above, Kara Brown (third, 1:13.75) and Julia Rickard (sixth, 1:18.66) both earned top-ten finishes and met the MAC standard.

Amber Fogelsanger finished in ninth in the 1500 Meter with a time of 5:22.77.

In the 5000 Meter, Ali Schutte (ninth, 19:13.78) and Connor Coggins (19:56.11) both ran a MAC qualifying time.

Four Falcons earned top-ten finishes in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Leading the pack were Kara Brown (16.45) and Claire Miller (16.80) who earned second and third respectively with MAC qualifying times. Clara Benner also reached the MAC standard, finishing fifth in a time of 17.82. Natalie Hamlen added an eighth-place finish, crossing in a time of 20.97.

Messiah placed a pair of runners in the top ten of the 400 Meter Dash. Kerrigan Lebo (fifth, 1:02.27) and Cassidy Chandler (seventh, 1:04.50) each earned a spot at MACs on Saturday.

Halle Jennett ran a pair of MAC qualifying times after earning a place in the finals of the 100 Meter Dash, where she crossed the line in a time of 13.35 to earn fifth and after crossing the line in a time of 27.22 in the 200 Meter Dash. Arwyn Gruenwald finished the 100 Meter in a time of 13.95. Claire Miller joined Jennett in the top ten of the 200, crossing the line in a time of 28.68 to earn ninth.

Messiah was represented well in the 800 Meter Run, with four falcons finishing in the top ten and two additional runners just outside. Alyssa Nori lead the way for Messiah, earning second place with a time of 2:27.26. Laura Kruth (sixth, 2:30.32), Kathleen Walstrom (seventh, 2:30.39), and Olivia Cory (10th, 2:33.42) joined her in the top ten. Kiersten Burch (11th, 2:34.98) and Isabela Rodriguez (12th, 2:30.39) found themselves just outside of the top ten. Nori, Kruth, and Walstrom earned spots at MACs.

Messiah finished the day with a third-place finish in the 4x400 Meter Relay. The team of Laura Kruth, Sarah Smith, Olivia Cory, and Kerrigan Lebo combined for a time of 4:27.79.

In the Field
A trio of Falcons placed in the Pole Vault with Noelle Crowley (second, 2.90) leading the way. Cadee Wood earned a fifth-place finish with a mark of 2.75 while Hannah Witter tied for sixth with a height of 2.60. Crowley and Wood both earned a spot at MACs.

Messiah had a pair of MAC qualifiers in the Javelin. Ruby Ramsey hit a mark of 31.68 meters, earning fourth, while Brynn Gaugler finished with a throw of 29.81 meters to earn seventh.

Leah Ferster will join them at MACs after throwing 31.03 meters to earn 10th in the Hammer Throw.

Kara Brown jumped a height of 1.42 meters in the High Jump to earn fifth and a trip to MACs.

In the Long Jump, Natalie Hamlen added another eighth-place finish on the day with a distance of 3.89 meters.
