LANCASTER, Pa. – The Messiah Women's Track and Field team was in action at the Blue & White Invite hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, Feb. 8. Highlighting the Falcons efforts on the day was
Hannah Witter earning first, improving her school record set last weekend, and three second-place finishes.
The Falcons are next in action on Saturday, Feb. 15 when they travel to Selinsgrove, Pa to compete at the SU Invitational hosted by Susquehanna.
Top Five Finishers on the Track
In the 60 Meter Dash,
Arwyn Gruenwald claimed third with a time of 8.11. Claiming third in the 60 meter Hurdles was
Kara Brown with a time of 9.43.
Meagan Kime was the top Falcon finisher in the 800 Meter Run with a new personal best time of 2:30.09.
Kerrigan Lebo finished closely behind in fifth with a time of 2:30.15.
Delaney Turk finished as runner-up in the Mile with a time of 5:28.79.
Madison Kimmel ran a new personal best time of 10:53.25 in the 3000 Meter Run to finish fifth. In the 5000 Meter Run,
Ava Shirk finished fourth with a new personal best time of 19:15.07.
The 4x400 Meter Relay team of
Elana Pineda,
Clara Benner,
Kerrigan Lebo, and
Halle Jennett finished fourth after combining for a time of 4:20.25.
Top Five Finishers in the Field
Hannah Witter improved her own school record that she set last week with a new personal best height of 3.63 meters in the Pole Vault.
Other Times on the Track
Sophia Nurse crossed the line in a time of 8.74 in the 60 Meter Dash while
Sara Cramer crossed in a time of 9.19.
Kara Brown returned to the track for the 200 Meter Dash after a third-place finish in the 60 Meter Hurdles and crossed the line in a time of 29.02. Sophia Nurse finished in a time of 29.61.
In the 400 Meter Dash,
Clara Benner crossed the line in a new personal best time of 1:04.03, outleaning teammate
Elana Pineda who crossed in a time of 1:04.64.
Messiah had a total of nine competitors in the 800 Meter Run, including Kime and Lebo who claimed fourth and fifth respectively.
Juliette Safer ran a season best time of 2:35.75 while
Katie Gardner ran a new personal best time of 2:42.05. The next Falcon across the line was
Kayra DeVries in a time of 2:43.36. Finishing back-to-back in heat two were
Julia Kurayev who ran a personal best of 2:52.83 and
Linnea Haney who ran 2:54.25.
Julia Rickard (3:11.67) and
Abigail Smith (3:22.91) rounded out the Falcon performances.
Allison Keller ran a new season best time of 6:03.07 in the Mile.
In the 3000 Meter Run, Messiah had seven runners in action, with four setting new personal bests and one adding a season best. As mentioned,
Madison Kimmel paced the Falcons with a fifth-place finish and personal best.
Olivia Miller and
Elizabeth Anthony each ran new personal best times of 11:43.18 and 12:46.80 respectively. The next Falcon to cross the line was
Grace Bath in a time of 12:56.35.
Kelsey Hoffman set a new personal best of 13:20.96 with
Lexi Lapp adding a season best of 13:40.54.
Abi Ferry rounded out the Falcons' efforts with a time of 14:10.77.
A trio of Falcons joined
Ava Shirk in the 5000 Meter Run.
Samantha Mynio crossed the line in a time of 21:50.17 while
Julia Steel and
Lia Widenhofer crossed in times of 23:12.06 and 26:11.03 respectively.
The 4x400 Meter Relay B team of
Linnea Haney,
Meagan Kime,
Katie Gardner, and
Juliette Safer combined for a time of 4:53.93.
Other Performances in the Field
Rachel Hartman cleared a height of 2.28 meters in the Pole Vault.
Jaclyn Steenstra set a new personal best in the Weight Throw with a distance of 13.35 meters. Steenstra improved from fourth to third on the Messiah Indoor Top Ten list.
Leah Ferster was the next Falcons with a distance of 10.83 meters.
Ella Axtell also threw a new personal best with a mark of 10.23 meters, now tenth all time at Messiah, while
Sidney Avers finished with a mark of 9.60 meters.
Leah Ritzman led a trio of Falcons in the Shot Put with a mark of 10.76 meters.
Leah Ferster finished right behind her with a distance of 10.66 meters while
Ella Axtell had a toss of 9.48 meters.
In the High Jump,
Kara Brown cleared a height of 1.42 meters.
