YORK, Pa. – The Messiah Men's Track and Field team was in action on Wednesday, April 1, for the York Twilight Meet. The Falcons midweek efforts were highlighted by first place finishes from
Kaleb Kabakjian in the 1500 Meter Run and
Ben Reichenbach in the High Jump. In total, the Falcons collected 14 top ten finishes and tallied 15 personal bests and five additional season bests throughout the competition.
The Falcons will return to action for the Annual Messiah Multi and Invitational to take place at Starry Athletic Complex from Thursday, April 9 through Saturday, April 11.
On the Track
Action on the track began with the 100 Meter Dash, where
Jack Safer turned in the Falcons' top time with a personal best of 11.69. Jace Russell also toed the line, finishing in a time of 12.44. The 110 Meter Hurdles were next on the track with
Jed Colyer running a personal best of 18.31.
In the 400 Meter Dash,
Will Xenakis led the Falcons with a seventh-place finish following a personal best time of 50.44 to top the competition in the fourth heat.
Valen Shrum-Groff also clocked a personal best with a time of 51.38.
Sean Baxter earned eighth in the 800 Meter Run after a time of 1:56.84.
Nathan Steen finished close behind in 12th with a season best time of 2:00.84.
Evan Sarkett and
Daniel Satariano were the next Falcons across the line in times of 2:04.12 and 2:05.40 respectively. Rounding out the Falcons efforts were
Caleb McInnes and
Jed Colyer who finished with respective times of 2:19.26 and 2:19.68.
Daniel Erikson was the lone representative for Messiah in the 400 Meter Hurdles and finished 11th with a personal best of 59.17.
Kaleb Kabakjian led a slew of Falcons in the 1500 Meter Run, claiming the top spot in a field of 57 runners with a personal best time of 3:59.97.
Samuel Hennett finished in fourth with a time of 4:05.29Â and
Josiah Carnwath added a third Falcon to the top ten with a time of 4:10.71 to finish 10th.
Nathaniel Coggins crossed in a personal best time of 4:12.45, just ahead of teammate
Micah Kao who clocked in at 4:13.09.
Jackson Kay added a personal best of 4:18.20 with
Nick Donohue (4:23.44) and
Luke Acton (4:23.82) being the next Falcons across the line.
Matthew Rush (4:24.03),
Jared Walker (4:24.04), and
Larsen Cooper (4:27.23) found themselves in the middle of the Messiah pack.
Ryan Klemick finished in a time of 4:29.79 with
Samuel Mateer crossing in a time of 4:31.15.
Samuel Meyer crossed in a time of 4:34.46 with
Celyn Evans crossing in a personal best time of 4:36.55 to round out the Falcons' efforts.
In the 200 Meter Dash,
Valen Shrum-Groff clocked a 23.49 with
Jack Safer adding a personal best 23.77.
Cooper Schwartz clocked in in a personal best time of 24.32.
Tyler Billet was the top Falcon in the 5000 Meter Run, finishing in a time of 17:04.04.
Gavin Coggins clocked a personal best time of 18:26.76.
Messiah entered a pair of teams in the 4x400 Meter Relay to conclude action on the track. The 'A' team of
Will Xenakis,
Evan Sarkett,
Daniel Satariano, and
Sean Baxter combined for a time of 3:26.94 to finish fourth. Finishing in a time of 3:40.44 was the 'B' team of
Eli McClymont,
Larsen Cooper,
Nathan Steen, and
Micah Kao.
In the Field
Action in the field began with the Discus Throw, where
Jake Holland finished fifth with a season best toss of 43.13 meters (141' 6").
Luke Bosma finished with a distance of 39.89 meters (130'10").
Ted Lechthaler finished 10th in the Hammer Throw with a personal best distance of 42.35 meters (138'11").
Ben Reichenbach earned the top spot in the High Jump with a clearance at 1.96 meters (6'5").
Liam McGovern finished eighth with a height of 1.75 meters (5'8.75"). Reichenbach and McGovern were the top two Falcon finishers in the Long Jump with Reichenbach reaching a personal best distance of 5.98 meters (19'7.5") to finish 10th and McGovern jumping 5.83 meters (19'1.5"). Declan Hseih finished with a mark of 5.82 meters (19'1.25") while
Jed Colyer added a season best 5.77 meters (18'11.25").
Joseph Dunbar was the final Falcon to take the runway, finishing with a distance of 5.64 meters (18'6").
In the Pole Vault,
Ezra Zook finished eighth with a season best height of 3.98 meters (12'11.5").
Luke Bosma led a Messiah duo in the Javelin Throw, tossing a personal best distance of 48.37 meters (158'08").
Cooper Schwartz finished with a mark of 47.34 meters (155'3"). Wrapping up action on Wednesday night was
Anthony Russo in the Shot Put with a season best toss of 11.68 meters (38'4").
